The crowd’s roar drowned out Johnathan's thoughts–all but those of clean dishes, a spotless counter, and shimmering metal floors, anyway.
They'd miss the Prismatic Passage and its magnificent light show again at this rate.
His kid sister, Penny, rushed into the kitchen, her arms full of cleaning supplies. The mop was taller than her by at least a foot. She stumbled and dropped it at her feet. Tears welled up in her jade eyes.
Johnathan picked up the too-big mop and ruffled up her frizzy red hair.
“Go on. Tell me all about it later.”
She smiled, nodded, and left.
